A forum co-hosted by the Research Node for Low Carbon Living, the University of South Australia and the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC) considered the emerging evidence and tools for policy and practice related to Australia’s transition to low carbon housing. It was attended by the Hon. Ian Hunter MLC, Minister for Sustainability, Environment and Conservation and Minister for Climate Change.
CRCLCL Chair, the Hon. Robert Hill AC opened the Forum and the University of South Australia’s Professor Simon Beecham gave the official welcome. Its program featured speakers from government, industry and research on current policy directions, the available research evidence and the current commercial realities of low carbon housing.
Over fifty attendees listened to panels which featured a mix of researchers, representatives from industry (CSR Building Products), industry groups (Green Building Council Australia) local and interstate government (Department of Industry, Innovation and Science and the South Australian Department of State Development) and design professionals (Pidcock Architects).
The program focused on collaborative discussion and included breakout sessions and a session dedicated to developing policy recommendations on how a transition to low carbon housing might be achieved.
