RP1025: Low carbon, low impact pre-fabricated timber CLT and steel hybrid construction systems for multi-storey non-residential urban infill

The proposed project aims to facilitate the adoption of a design and construction technique for buildings that use a sustainable low carbon construction system.

Prefabricated, hybrid-engineered cross laminated timber (CLT) and steel construction systems for multi-storey urban infill can deliver on urban sustainability objectives by enabling new building heights.They have been shown to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and significantly minimise waste from construction and demolition. Solid engineered wood systems from certified sources such as LVL, Glue Lam and CLT USE large format, modular, lightweight, prefabricated components and panels of structural integrity, that emit low levels of carbon in their manufacture and are able to store and sequester carbon over their lifecycle.
